There was a moment around the time my daughter turned one, when she expressed full-bodied amazement at seeing holiday lights for the first time. She toddled in looking like Cindy Lou from Whoville in red fleece pajamas, looked up at a freshly laureled garland lit up with twinkle lights, and her entire tiny body filled with joy: Waaoooowww!
