Just in time for the holiday travel rush, a swank new 9,000 square foot, two-floor lounge named “BlueHouse” opens Thursday at New York’s John F. Kennedy airport in Terminal 5.
It’s part of JetBlue’s strategy to appeal to higher-spending travelers and compete against legacy U.S. carriers like Delta and American Airlines, which have long offered branded airport lounges and premium cabins. But, mainly, JetBlue CEO Joanna Geraghty and her executive team see it as a path to profitability.
