Go big or go home. At this year’s annual conference which drew roughly 10,000 attendees to the French Riviera, the largest hospitality brands announced portfolio expansions and threw lavish parties while smaller players leveraged the event to connect with advisors and introduce new brands.
Particularly notable was the kick off speech by Dr. Simon Baptist, Principal Economist for Asia Pacific at Visa, who delivered a global luxury outlook. He says spending is now multi-tier, not exclusive. The top 1% still spend the most, but growth increasingly comes from the top 5–20%, considered the “emerging affluent,” who are particularly visible in Dubai, Singapore, and London. The map is shifting. India and China are minting millionaires at extraordinary rates, outpacing traditional Western markets. They seek curated experiences, not just luxury goods.
